Guilt by association

Know a Man by the Company He Keeps

Much of who we are, what we like and dislike, do and don’t do, and will and won’t do, is colored by the people we meet and our shared interests.  As individuals with active and multi-faceted lifestyles the Oscar in us typically seeks to spend time with other similar to him. Associating with others of similar general and more specific profiles, and needs and wants, means that we truly interrelate and interact such that all are engaging each other on different levels and in very significant ways.

Guilt by Association implies that you can define a social circle and home in on its individual members, and vice versa, by paying attention to their common character, make-up, routines, communication style, behavior, and more.

Interesting why? Firstly, take a good look and you’ll see that the target groups of your product/ service are clustered together. This means that if you can identify somebody within the target group (e.g. someone who actually bought your product or took your service) then it is very probable that some of his/her friends are also interested in this product or service.

Target Outwards

If you can identify one tech-savvy Oscar in the selected customer group, then you can assume that there are other tech-savvy people in his direct circle.

Circle Inwards

If you know members of a social circle communicate in Latin (or English) then it is very probable that your Oscar in the middle of the circle does too.

Broad Understanding

If you find several young customers in the set circle it means that it is highly probable (90%!) that the target can also be flagged as a young customer.
